Entry Island Celebrates Christmas & Volunteerism!

On Friday, December 7th, 2012 forty-four participants from the community of Entry Island gathered to celebrate two great things, Christmas, and volunteer contributions to the community. Celebrations commenced with acknowledging the importance of volunteerism and the presentation of this year’s nominees for “Volunteer of the Year”, as is the goal of the Community Engagement Committee. The eight nominees were as follows; Harold Dickson, Wade Chenell, Thelma-Ann Feltmate, Nicole Clarke, Glen Clarke, Robin Aitkens, Shirley Welsh and Mavis Patton.

Two winners, Thelma-Ann Feltmate and Wade Chenell, were awarded the title this year on behalf of The Community Engagement Committee and the Entry Island Future Committee, as it was also in their action plan this year to celebrate volunteerism. Volunteer efforts on Entry Island are very important in sustaining services, programs and the well-being of this community. It is for this reason that we are proud to recognize the efforts of our volunteers every year!

Holiday spirit was added to the volunteer celebrations as the evening continued with a hot turkey supper catered by the Women’s Social Economy Working Committee. Dessert was provided by the Heritage Committee. While everyone in attendance enjoyed their meal, participation prizes were drawn and Christmas gifts were given to the children. A great evening was enjoyed by all.

We would like to thank everyone for attending this event to show their appreciation for volunteerism and community. We would also like to thank everyone who helped make this event possible; the caterers, the staff at CAMI, CEDEC and the Future Committee, the Heritage Committee and last but not least Jennifer Dickson, a community volunteer.
